Emphasis on the “slab”. I add a cheese slice to my sandwich and feel indulgent.

3·2 months agoCloud access is typically if you’re managing equipment at multiple sites. For me everything is accessed and managed locally and the recordings are saved to a local HDD and not uploaded to the cloud.

2·7 months agoMicrosoft spent billions and even bought Nokia to try and be a 3rd player. The problem wasn’t their commitment, it was a lack of developers releasing apps for their OS. Without the millions of apps available on iOS and Android, people weren’t buying the phones.

1·8 months agoWhy? What’s wrong with Authy? I use it, Proton and Bitwarden. I could consolidate everything into Proton, but I’m concerned about having everything with one vendor.
Just an excuse to charge more for them. Cant think of any useful reason to have a screen on the case when you have your phone with you.

0·2 years agoBeen there done that. I prefer the Nvidia Shield, easier interface to navigate with a remote, I don’t have to login first, it rarely needs an update, no noisy fans, I don’t need to keep a physical keyboard connected to it, it’s way cheaper, I don’t need to mess around with codecs, and there aren’t a lot of unnecessary services and background applications hogging memory and cpu resources.
I get that most of this can be fixed or worked around on a htpc, but that’s effort I don’t have to spend on a Shield.

I’ve visited the US 3 times, they’ve got all mine already.
