  • There is a very American explanation for this. Capitalists have to run everything so Communists are seen as evil from the start. If you ignore how US minorities were treated, Russia and China were really up their citizens asses. Russia dropped the ball on the whole consumer electronics sector so you’re left with China and their Great Firewall, social monitoring, etc. Thus information control and Orwellian monitoring = China.

The reality is that both tankies and capitalist dick riders are just two raccoons in the same feed sack, they only came into it from different ends.

Of course the UK also catches flak for being an over monitored nanny state, depending on which way the wind is blowing.

  • I know a couple people who one could describe as “twat” who turn off traction control and abs, thinking they are going to be rally drivers on the way to McDonalds. They tend to end up in the ditch.

Subaru has been good. The lane warning was the only thing we turned off because it was just obnoxious. If something is beeping constantly and erratically, what’s the point? The lane centering had a tendency to pull towards semis when passing but that seems to have been fixed in an update. The only other thing that is more a quality of life is a way easily and preemptively to turn off the backup warning and breaking assist when pulling a trailer.

Mussolini started the fascist movement and was doing some serious aura farming ,as the kids would say. Going for rebuilding the Roman Empire would be a serious Minion bait.

Hitler passed him in evilness and had a penchant for ridiculous super weapons. Some of the cockups they had could have been Minion level.

Stalin was neck and neck with Hitler for evil, murder, and conquest. However, I think by the time they turn his way, the Minions would have looked at all the purges, holodomor, etc and just decided to take a personal vacation until the CIA showes up.

  • Back in the late 90s there was a brutal multiple victim murder where some random guy walked into the back of a local restaurant before it opened and killed everyone in the kitchen. Some TV station did a true crime story on it where they changed the all the names but the local police had a copy and knew it was that story. I kind of realized then that they just pull the subject case out of a hat and slap on The Voice, a camera filter, and follow the formula of tense interviews and add breaks.

  • Yes, they have a very good idea on accuracy. For the record, I was originally a young earth creationist but curiosity got the better of me. Geologists are very obsessive about rocks so it’s just a case of puzzling out what rocks match perfectly despite distance, accounting for things like erosion or volcanoes, and lining up the various ages of rocks for when they were made and when other rocks filled in. Then add fossils to check connections and weather conditions. There is obviously more than this, but it’s something a person can get real deep into.

The planet would not be noticeably different in size. The last time the earth got a noticeable rise in mass we ended up with a moon. There is evidence of objects in the lower mantle that are most likely old sunken tectonic plates, but I don’t recall details.

  • My friend hit a black angus bull that had wondered into the road at night. The farmers insurance had to pay for it and this is something that is well established. There should be zero difficulty in saying that the AI company has to carry insurance for what their software does. Mining companies are supposed to have a fund set aside to fix environmental damage and recover the land, AI data centers should have to do the same. A lot of the retail use violations are already covered by other laws but things need to be expanded and updated. However, some tools like Musks kiddy porn need to be shut down hard and the blame put on the guy who keeps turning the model to reflect himself.

  • Currently private users and enthusiasts. As networks grow, there will probably be universities joining. Eventually corporations will start marketing plug and play equipment while selling access to server space and long distance connections. Other businesses will join and finance their services by selling subscriptions, advertising, and user data. Various government agencies will add hardware they can also use to track traffic. Someone will inevitably bring in bots, AI models, and internet connected devices. After that someone will coin the term “dead mesh network theory” and all the nerdlings will start developing the next knitted network or something.
