This is something you make for either a close friend or dire enemy. There is no in between.

Technology@lemmy.world•Quilter's AI just designed an 843‑part Linux computer that booted on the first try. Hardware will never be the same.
17·4 days agoI like that it’s basing its behaviors on the laws of physics. No messy human language, no opinions, slants, or agendas. AI just isn’t ready (or, possibly, will never be ready) to handle that shit. Plus, it’s not stealing work created by humans under the guise of “training”.
I assume it still relies on datacenters, which are themselves ethically questionable. Still, this seems to be the “flavor” of AI that I hate the least.
Was Best Buy paying her a retainer? No? Then she’s gonna go where the work is.
Steven Universe actually looks all right.
The answer is what matters. Thanks again!
Whoops…lol! Thanks for clearing things up!
I haven’t seen the movie, and don’t remember what was said about it. What did the AI get wrong?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Lemmy users who say that Lemmy users are smarter than Reddit users
161·15 days agoIn my experience, Lemmy users generally seem to be more mature (with significant exceptions), but “mature” certainly isn’t a synonym for “smarter”.
Plus, reddit is SO EASY to make fun of. They might as well reward people with terrible ideas and their most obnoxious users. Spez, for example.

Sometimes poorly used quotation marks freak me out. This is one of those times.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Would you date someone that uses a hammer?
3·27 days agoDoctors are trained in using them safely, and in a way that benefits the public. That could make a difference.

Technology@lemmy.world•Scientists Growing Colour Without Chemicals
441·1 month ago“It’s 100% natural!” “So is arsenic.” …
When I see “without chemicals” I just assume it’s shorthand for “without known harmful chemicals, probably” until I carefully read the label and learn more
I only use it to cover my ass because I’m not sure I’m right
OOP either doesn’t know or doesn’t care that labor can take hours, and is completely unpredictable. There’s also the issue of finding a delivery room with space to accommodate five observers, in addition to the other people who absolutely need to be in the room.
This isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but the practicalities are significant.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla's Full Self-Driving software under investigation after railroad incidents
474·2 months agoWHY THE FUCK ARE PEOPLE STILL EXPECTING THIS GARBAGE TO WORK? Tesla’s “full self driving” crashes have been widely covered. Is it simple ignorance? Are they not aware of the news? Is it stubbornness? Laziness? Thinking that “it won’t happen to me”? Do they sincerely believe Musk’s lies?
I know that victim blaming isn’t the answer, and that’s not what I’m doing. I just want to know what’s going on in their heads.
