I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision by only watching GoT through season 7. Then I get reminded to just appreciate what I got 🤣
Is Dunk and Egg good? I saw season 1 on disc at Walmart the other day to learn that it exists.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Almost 38 & This Is Where I'm At Now
1·14 days agoOff topic but out of curiosity, how many people actually work in a data center? I’ve always wanted to work in one but got the impression that there are only a small number of people, maybe a dozen or so, dedicated to keeping the hardware running.
But hearing how it’s affected you makes me think it might not be the best choice for me. I worked from home for about 5 years up to and during COVID, and honestly can relate to feeling less comfortable in social situations after a while. I think the first year or so I was fine and then started to notice the decline of actually wanting to interact with other people.

Technology@lemmy.world•Why Normal People Aren’t Using AI AgentsEnglish
8·1 month agoThere was some research recently that showed the same thing. People who are “dug in” on a topic, usually a political topic, will shut down when a person tries to persuade them of an alternative, but are much more open to hear the same arguments from AI and actually reconsider their position.
I believe this is a big reason why X-Ai was so important for conservatives to get off of the ground, they were afraid all the crazy would start wearing off if people asked the “woke” models for the truth.

Technology@lemmy.world•When your vehicle outlives its cloud: What happens next?English
1·2 months agoAnacdotaly I suspect most car software bugs aren’t hunted or patched at all, unless an exec at the company happens to run into the bug in their personal vehicle and flags it for the development team to fix.
I’ve heard too many stories of car software issues where the dealer gives it back with a note “reset the battery and tested good” but the bug is still easily reproduced.

1·3 months agoSeems unlikely unless the bubble survives another 5+ years. My guess is power companies are taking AI contracts and cash now, promising to add capacity later, and then when the bubble pops they will shrug, say no more capacity is needed, and give the CEOs a huge bonus.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 10 support quietly extended until Oct 2027, as users reject Windows 11English
1·3 months agoAgreed. And truly developers don’t need to actually “support” Linux; mostly they just need to not intentionally block games from working.

2·3 months agoLinux only needs to hit a “small but not insignificant size market” for the large publishers to start supporting it. They won’t support it if they lose money doing so, but if it continues to grow eventually they will lose money by not supporting it.
Steam machine should provide another bump, just like steam deck.
That’s when I just put the airflow on “feet”. Most cars will actually blow like 30% up on the windshield when set to the feet direction. This lets me avoid running the a/c if I don’t want to.
