Technology@lemmy.world•I used an original iPod Nano in 2026, and it worked surprisingly wellEnglish
7·12 days agoThey’re great devices.
Recently, my partner’s 18yo nephew asked her if she had any iPods (she doesn’t). I took a photo of the eight or so different models that I still have in storage and sent it to him just to gloat. I’m a monster.
Go back to bed. You’ve already won. The day can’t possibly get any better from here.

12·12 days agoC’mon now. You’re not nearly rich or influential enough to get away with that and you know it. Rules are for regular people, not the rich or mighty. Sheesh.

18·13 days agoIt’s finally the year of Desktop Linux, about fifteen (or more) years after people thought it would happen. I’m happy for all the nerds who are finally vindicated. (I like Linux, but I’m an Apple guy.)

Oh, that was a good laugh.

3·13 days agoThat was my reaction when I read about them pulling copilot and such. I think it’s probably the reaction of every software nerd.
I go to sleep drunk a lot. I forget to turn off lights. My partner calls me out for it. I have not shame.
I’ve never been ashamed of or regretted licking ass.

20·18 days agoIt seems like we’re at a real turning point for Linux adoption. I’m an Apple nerd, but I love seeing people switch to Linux and write about what a (mostly) positive experience it is. Cheers to my fellow nerds getting off the screaming pile of garbage MS if forcing on people who just want a computer that works.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI boom could falter without wider adoption, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella warnsEnglish
6·26 days agoOh, that would be a shame. Not like I was already planning on buying a new computer this year and the idea of over-paying due to RAM shortages and other bs has made me mad at them. After already being mad at them for a lot of reasons that were more abstract in how they harmed me. Fuck 'em.
Hey, you know that Microsoft guy in a high position who pissed off devs on Twitter by saying their code would be replaced by AI and then a lot of the internet called him on his shit? Maybe I can work for him (because I’m certainly not talented enough to get hired directly under ass-face here).
Can we also make people who still pay for things at a store with a check go to the bad one? It was before the pan, but I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when a lady pulled out her checkbook in front of me at the checkout line. Gtf outta here.

The next move will be bringing back Clippy and then a full-screen ad that you have to dismiss every ten seconds.

And just like that, I found out that the scar is still fresh.
Working IT, it’s impressive how many people don’t understand basic computer functions. Even young people who grew up with technology. I impressed someone by fixing something by quitting and relaunching an app the other day. C’mon…
For those who don’t know, the title of the post refers to an error code, ID-Ten-Tee, meaning IDIOT.
