New York Mayor Ed Koch had the perfect line.
“If you agree with me 51% of the time, vote for me. If you agree with me 100% of the time, see a psychiatrist.”
No politician [or friend or boss or lover] is going to be ideal. You can accept reality and move on.
I can’t wait until midterms are over and it’s two more years until the next flood of ‘both parties are the same y’all’ posts.
These are getting tiring.
The US needs proper political parties and a preferential system
Hungarian here, when we had more party representation, we had “all parties are the same y’all” posts. The only reason why this got less popular is due to 16 years of Fidesz governance.
Did Hungary have issues that all parties were aligned on? Was the system so tied nothing could pass? It’s the full opposite here
It was contrarianism. The moment some party did a good thing, they opposed that on the basis of “other party bad”.
Ideally you take out both pieces of shit but if you can only choose one you get rid of the biggest, stinking, nastiest piece of shit.
This is about the US midterms.
Or all US elections
At least I love my cat.
The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. - Douglas Adams
Maybe, but at least I can immediately throw out the piece of shit from my cat.
Obligatory Ronnie adaptation: Everybody want to live in a democracy, nobody wants to lift no heavy ass ballots
ain’t nothing to it but to do it
yeah buddy
lightweight
One of these is a daily thing. The other is every four years.
Two. You were supposed to vote today, btw.
Nope. That would be foreign interference.
Something less than two but greater than one. Don’t forget local elections.
And primaries.
And special elections on specific propositions and laws if your area does those.
Like, twice a year sometimes. Vote in your primary. Vote again in your local elections.
At a minimum annually. Your local elecrions are the ones that usually impact YOU the most.
