There aren’t going to be enough grants to cover every small, independent artist whose work is buried beneath mountains of AI slop
And like, the obvious issue is who is going to enforce this? Pretty much every government has been cozying up with the billionaire tech bros that run AI companies and will fight tooth and nail against any legislation like this proposal

If they wanted simpler summaries on complex topics they could just start an initiative to have them added by editors instead of using a wasteful, inaccurate hype machine

Except they haven’t actually backed that up with a way for you to jump servers. If the central Bsky server goes down, it takes the network with it. Until they actually let other people host, it’s just meaningless posturing. Without a way for people to leave their network you are as captive there as you are on Twitter
MysticKetchup@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI declares AI race “over” if training on copyrighted works isn’t fair useEnglish11·7 months agoIt’s literally worse than piracy, since the AI companies are also trying to sell shittier versions of the works they copy from
Like selling camrips except done by multi-billion dollar companies ripping off individuals and stores are trying to put them right next to the original DVDs in the store
So according to Republicans the FCC shouldn’t have the power to regulate net neutrality but it should be able to force streaming companies to carry specific programming.
Time for some Satanists to start some public broadcasting?
- Bluesky is more easily usable
- More people they want to follow are on Bluesky
Instead of complaining we need to work on making Masto more welcoming to new users and amplifying the advantages it has over Bluesky
I feel like I didn’t appreciate this movie enough when I first watched it but it only gets better as I get older
Ahh, the working class getting fined for insulting billionaires, communism as Karl Marx intended

I am wondering why they are getting this brazen and in our face about corruption as if they are seeing how far they can push and how much the pedons can take
Because they know they can get away with it. Trump got elected and even won the popular vote despite being the most obviously incompetent and corrupt president we’ve ever had so now they know there are no consequences
The problem isn’t capitalism, but all of the rules both explicit and implicit that benefit large companies over smaller companies.
The fact that the rules benefit those with more capital is a feature, not a bug, of capitalism
So the billionaire building autonomous weapons and spying technology used for genocide who also injects the blood of young men to rejuvenate himself is here to warn us about the dangers of young climate activist trying to deliver food to starving Palestinians?
It’s sad that we’re at a point where people will actually listen to him and think he is anything other than a terrible person
