4·7 months agoThey abused a loophole, started doing this before getting permits, and then they & the relevant government agencies ignored the affected people when they complained. So basically, there will be no consequences and nobody who doesn’t live there will even remember this by tomorrow when some other horrible crime is committed.

6·8 months agoNope, but your first two comments were about the headline and not the article which is why I assumed you hadn’t read any of it, and then you were saying they’re treating Grok as a source and not an LLM when they clearly called it a chatbot in the first sentence. I don’t have to comment on YOU bringing up critical approaches to LLM outputs when that’s not what any of this is about because you’re just moving the goalposts.

The article opens with “Elon Musk’s supposedly “anti-woke” chatbot”

10·8 months agoI’m having trouble wording this in a way that doesn’t sound like I’m talking down to you, I can only promise you that that’s not my intent.
Headlines have always existed to get your attention, they’ve always been sensationalised and are frequently somewhat misleading about the substance of the article on the surface to evoke a reaction and get you to visit the website (or buy the newspaper/magazine). The author decided potential information about Trump being a Russian asset is more attention-grabbing than a meaningless story about a crap LLM designed to be crap by a crappy person turning out to be a piece of crap. If that bothers you then it’s a perfect example of why you shouldn’t get your news from headlines.

17·8 months agoNobody’s saying Grok is trustworthy. The article is about it being funny that it keeps saying shit that goes against the “anti-woke” bias it’s programmed to have.
Though this is obviously not the first time Trump has been accused of being a Putin puppet, and most certainly won’t be the last, it’s hilariously ironic that the chatbot funded by his alleged “co-president” is talking such deep smack.
There are multiple links to other times it’s happened too. It’s hardly an endorsement of Grok.

all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath.
I’d have given him the benefit of the doubt a decade ago, but how clear does he have to make himself? We’ve been watching him get more and more overt for years at this point.

111·10 months agoThe silliness isn’t what convinced me they were different people, it was the fact that Dittman could string a sentence together whereas every time I’ve heard Elon without a script (which really isn’t often, probably never outside of KF) there have been so many ums and ahs that communicating a single point would take a lifetime. Maybe having less pressure on him as Dittman helps.

91·1 year agoHe knows it and he did it intentionally, but the people laughing at him are his imagination. He’s projected these thoughts onto them because he feels self-conscious, nobody said a word to him. It’s just as likely the woman was laughing because she’s on the phone, or the man was smirking at something on a podcast he’s got playing.
Edit: Will you people stop telling me you laugh at Cybertrucks. I don’t care, that’s not the point.

Enough Musk Spam@lemmy.world•I Don’t Know Why Women Keep Laughing at Me When I’m Out Driving my Tesla Cybertruck
74·1 year agoI realized she was laughing derisively. She was like, “What kind of person would drive something like that?” Or, “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Granted, she could have been having a weird reaction to a stroke or something, but I’m pretty sure I saw what I saw. Then today, I was at a four-way stop, and a guy in a Nissan Titan/Toyota Tundra or something smiled and then chuckled like: “What a tool.” Or, who would drive something like that?”
Mate, these thoughts are in your head. My partner has bouts of anxiety where she assumes people are always thinking the worst of her, so I’m hesitant to make fun of the dude because I’ve seen what it can do to someone, but he’s clearly bought a dumbass car to get attention and now he’s feeling insecure about it. It’s sad.
