  • When I lived in the NE US in the ‘00s it would snow so much the airports would shut down for a day. Piles of snow would last well into spring. Last time I was there it snowed maybe a total of a foot for the entire winter for a couple years running. All those winter scenes in film, or even Currier and Ives prints from the turn of the last century are the only context that it used to actually snow and stay covered for months at a time.

  • Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. At face value alone the alleged “Hey Fascist, Catch!” text on the casing is not something a right winger would say about their own ideological cousin, and if true as well, the shooter may have dated a trans individual. The preponderance of the circumstantial evidence we’ve been told (albeit with the caveat that we can’t trust news orgs that are kissing the ring) would seem to point towards the shooter aligning with left-leaning traits.

Edit: you downvoters need to check your cancel votes at the door. Just because there’s a possibility you might dislike the reality of the situation not turning out how you’d like.

  • I’ve swapped back and forth between brands since I built my first computer almost 30 years ago. It was intel forever until AMD showed up with their early Athlons, amazing CPUs for the price. Then Intel fought back with with their Core 2 Quads, AMD with Thunderbirds, back to intel with their higher i-series, up until about 2-3 years ago and now AMD’s Ryzen offering the better performance/$ again. It’s too bad intel seems to be unable to keep costs competitive and maintain quality. I’ve never had a CPU quit on me yet (knock on wood). Motherboards, RAM, PSUs, sure. I used to partial upgrade every 2 years or so, but the golden era of PC building is gone. The high prices of GPU’s alone really killed the momentum we had from say ‘05-‘15.

  • 2000

Just been a whipsaw shitshow since.

2000 is when Bush got elected and we openly courted the fringe, the uneducated, and religious right. Openly chose obstinacy and willful ignorance in an unqualified nepo-president who got the job because of daddy. 9/11 happened and the standard became selling shitty policy to Americans by labeling it something patriotic. The tax breaks came fast and hard, more unilateral decision making by the President. We can easily argue there were a lot of historic actions that led up to this from Gingrich to Nixon to Reagan, but Bush and the RNC are the one that really set things in motion to get us to trump. The Tea Partiers, Pailin, the official voice of the Right used openly to demonize the left and people like McConnell or Bohner actively sabotaging bipartisanship and undermining the presidency.

    Yeah, 2000 for sure.
