Is this you? If so, my wife wonders what camera and software you used!

Technology@lemmy.world•Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM
11·2 months agoRight‽ I don’t think anyone expected spinners to outlast SATA SSDs!

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Capitalism isn't the problem, THIS is the problem, and I've watched it roll over us for 40 years. [3 min. video]
3·2 months agoRight‽
“the problem isn’t capitalism! It’s [the natural consequences of capitalism]!”
Like, I’m sorry, but to me, this isn’t the stunning argument OP seems to think it is.
It’s supposed to be a place to showcase art, not a free place to advertise for your store.
The dude(ette) didn’t even post a link though from what I can see, so, the reaction is insane.
Print on demand is easy, so, I’d think any artist who’s showing off their work online should have a printer that they’ve run off a few test prints with already ready to go, in case people are interested enough to ask about purchases, but, I’m not trying to moderate a magazine/community and prevent it from being a giant advertisement, so, ::shrug::

Technology@lemmy.world•Salt Lake City, plans to implement AI-assisted 911 call triaging to handle ~30% of about 450K non-emergency calls per year
11·8 months agoTo make it worse, it’ll quickly get figured out and people will be calling in “oh my God! he’s trying to kill me”, get transferred to a person and be like “so, it’s 3pm in a Saturday and my neighbors are playing their music too loud!”

Technology@lemmy.world•Call Centers Replaced Many Doctors’ Receptionists. Now, AI Is Coming for Call Centers.
81·9 months agoI called Comcast and it was horrible
human, operator, GET HUMAN, person, technician, for fucks sake! Bomb? Give me a fucking human!
Nope, nothin, mashing 0 on the keypad also did nothing.
Yeah, my problem with it is that it’s always something. I’ve been giving it a go about once a year since they forked from Emby and everytime something has made me drop it.
If I’m having problems with it the handful of times I go to watch something using it, the people I share with DEFINITELY would and now I have to handle their auth crap myself as well.
I’ll probably prioritize just keeping a server going side by side now for a lot longer than a month or two at a time and try to find solutions to my problems. it’s never really been a priority before since Plex worked, but the writing has been on the wall for a while now that the enshittification is in full swing and now I need to make sure I’m ahead of it.
Blah, this sucks.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•All that data collection, and you don't even know me, what's even the point‽
461·1 year agoI wasn’t a TikTok user, but, from what people tell me, by their third swipe the algorithm already knew enough about them that almost everything they get recommended was stuff they were interested in.
How is it that Google with raw access to SO MUCH MORE information than just a few swipes can’t manage to zero in on what I’m actually interested in and instead I see so much garbage that I don’t bother looking at.

Technology@lemmy.world•LG and Samsung are adding Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant to their TVs
6·1 year agoWhat next? A toaster with butter spreader built-in?
I mean, that’s at least a feature that you can look at and say “Huh, I’m not lazy enough to use it myself, but I’m glad it’s there for Granny who has arthritis and can’t hold the knife very well anymore” UNLIKE the AI which is basically just there for Samsung/LG to get money from Microsoft and for Microsoft … ??? … Profit???

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•There was a time when everyone had common sense
11·1 year agoThank You! They intentionally served the coffee hotter than their cups were even rated for all to minimize people getting refills and it was well documented by their own employees that people were getting hurt as a result.
The person filing the lawsuit only wanted their medical bills covered. The JURY decided to go punitive and instead gave like 2 days of coffee profits instead (NOTE: The judge then said ‘fuck that’ and reduced the punitive amount down to ~25% of the amount the jury decided on … or 3x what they medical bills came out to because actually _punishing _ a company isn’t allowed).
McDonalds’ smear campaign against this poor woman has been so disgustingly successful.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Le Reddit Army is Here 2: Electric Boogaloo
161·1 year agoYeah, from what I understand, .world is hosted in a country where suggesting that someone should die is really not allowed, so, it makes sense (if the person that said that was accurate). At least its not virtue signaling or adhering to the whims of the rich like over at R.

Technology@lemmy.world•Moderators Across Social Media Struggle to Contain Celebrations of UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Assassination
37·1 year agoOne of the mods said (in the article) that to their knowledge it’s mostly the paid admins removing it not the unpaid moderators.

That was the first thing I checked and was also surprised!
