Mr Tabs. Xansbob will steal your speaker. Perctrick will just nod off or die. Midward has weed but I can get that myself. Mr Tabs is probably more open minded and present than the rest.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta Caught Paying Nazis to Post on FacebookEnglish
4·2 months agoMFW talking to anyone in my red state
Oh you haven’t met the right people bud lol once you find that world it grows big.
Yeah basically I saw a friend turn into a Nazi because of the algorithm and just kind of logged off. I did this with TV before everyone went streaming. I don’t like being told what to think.
I haven’t entirely shut myself out but I tune in when I want to now. Otherwise I’m just going to work and doing activist shit. Freetime is video games and books.
I couldn’t recognize her by the particular photo. Lemmy is the only form of social media I really use. I mostly exist in the physical world and just keep up with the news. You’re right that I know who she is though lol
Yeah. I am Chicano but identify more with my indigenous side and am friends with plenty of Native Americans. I’ve always personally blamed Judeo-Christian thinking. The whole manifest destiny mindset is insane.
I mean read just a piece of how different things were before those religions came to this land.
A second, related factor was the absence of large domestic animals in North America, which meant that instead of the ‘intensive’, ploughing-and-manuring agriculture practised in Europe, Native American farmers used ‘extensive’ techniques, cultivating an area for a few years and then moving on to let the soil recover. Most groups - hunters and plant-gatherers as well as agriculturists - viewed land as a common resource rather than a commodity that could be owned. Tribes and families had the right to hunt, fish or grow crops in defined places, but the concept of a fenced-off parcel of land being the exclusive property of an individual would have been utterly alien to most, if not all, Native Americans. The Indian attitude towards land was part of a broader, more fundamental understanding of reality which underpinned the whole of native life. Although, again, there were enormous local variations in mythology and ritual, some of the essentials of this world-view were shared by many, if not most, cultures. Perhaps the most basic element was the belief in sacred power: the idea that everything in the universe was interconnected and possessed a spiritual force or energy that could affect the lives of ‘the people’ and of all other living things. Gaining power and the aid of powerful beings was absolutely vital: for success in hunting, plentiful crops, good health, thriving children and victory in battle. But power was also dangerous.

Technology@lemmy.world•The 4th Circuit Says Border Agents Can Search Your Phone By Hand, No Suspicion RequiredEnglish
3·3 months agoThe one time cops tried to search my phone (local police not border patrol) I wouldn’t give my pin. They eventually gave it back but they wiped my phone.
I’d argue they’re insane for tolerating the stuff
People act like I’m insane when I do this
This one actually caught me off guard
Yeah I’m right handed so pornhub is difficult. Anything with the right side of the keyboard.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Belgium national team's official social media post after beating the USA national team in the World Cup:"Overturn this"
4·4 months agoI don’t think OP was making fun of the people who died at all. Rather this is probably how Trump (a demented narcissist btw) probably sees this whole situation. We gotta have some room of humor. I would agree with you if OPs joke was just “9/11 lol” but there’s a lot of context here.

It’s more the cliche of sex workers saying they’ll do “anything” as a kind of innuendo without incriminating themselves. The joke is playing off the use of the word “anything”
There’s a point where its way too obnoxious but I think it’s fine as long as you find your own space. We all kind of silently claim spots in public spaces like the beach so just claim somewhere that is not too close to other people.
When I want the serenity I go off to the side where no one is. I don’t think it’s a big deal.

That’s just a nerf when you’re too OP
