Weird how every show / movie shows up in a full 4K rip on usenet the next day still. It’s almost like DRM doesn’t stop piracy.

since OP appears to be one of Ze Germans, i’m going to take the charitable interpretation that they were probably not aware of the connotation

As an Apple shareholder, I’d just like to thank Microsoft for their outstanding contribution to selling more Macs.

But most users never need to open it because Apple at least tests their OS before yeeting it into prod, unlike this hot mess.

That’s enough internet for me today

Windows is becoming so trash that a bunch of my not-that-tech-savvy friends have been hitting me up asking about gaming on various Linux distros. (Just a few years ago it was all “Linux? Haha nerd”.) And the non gamers are switching to Mac at a remarkable rate.
And things have progressed so well that even for the non-technical crew, after installing Mint and showing them how to use ProtonPlus to install and select Proton-GE, they’re pretty much off to the races without much further hand holding.

Seconding Kagi, it’s worth every penny.

Yes, on the one hand, this is a chilling precedent that can only lead to long term despair and national ruination. But on the other hand, line go up next quarter. I think we all know which one Tim Apple will choose.

The roll of paper is an interesting idea but where would one actually buy those? Are they a standard thing?

It’s largely an age gap I think. The first generation of FPS games on N64, PS1, etc used inverted controls, so if you’re an old man millennial like me, that’s how you learned to play.
Then in later generations (PS2/3 and on) this changed and inverted became an option, rather than the default (or in some games, only!).
Thus younger gamers are used to “standard” and older gamers used to inverted.

I’m an American living in the EU, and I’m surprised by that. All the other American immigrants I’ve met so far have been opposed to Trump and Republicans generally. I always figured the conservatives were likely to be buying into AmErIcA iS tHe BeSt propaganda and would thus be uninterested in moving to another country.

Silicon Valley person here. There is a relatively developed tech sector there, with a growing startup scene in Tel-Aviv. So not a horrible place to have an office (from purely talent reasons, setting ethics aside). But not necessarily fantastic either. There are bigger and more developed tech scenes in other countries. The Netherlands, Germany and Austria in particular have a lot of high tech semiconductor manufacturing companies which would be logical for a company like NVIDIA. As well as the added benefit of not currently waging a war against civilians.

Former Apple employee here, hardware is almost never let off campus but software alone can be. For example software engineers working on iOS, like this guy, would probably have development builds installed on their personal devices. It’s allowed but you’re obviously not supposed to let anyone else see or use the new features.

Par for the course for Apartheid Space-Karen.

Yea, that’s actually a more accurate way to phrase it. Ask it to generate something with Hitler and it’ll happily oblige, ask it to generate something supporting trans rights and it’ll block you.

What guardrails? Grok was intentionally designed without any. Don’t believe me? Go on the website and ask if to generate something awful - it’ll happily comply. Really disgusting way to handle AI.

I uh… you sure about that dictator thing? xi jinping enters the chat
Are you French or Italian perhaps? In this context, if you meant attendre / attendere, the word in English is expect. 😊
