It was a joke. What isn’t a joke is America’s built in car addiction. Even if you want to bike the fossil fuel industry and and auto manufacturers have subjugated urban planners and locked in dependency on their products. If you live urban or suburban and can’t live your daily life without a car there is a serious design problem in your environment.
