    Researchers at MIT published a report showing that 95% of the generative AI programs launched by companies failed to do the main thing they were intended for — ginning up more revenue.

    Allegedly the remaining 5% that makes a profit is mostly specialized in spam and spam adjacent marketing.

    It was inevitable that the bubble built on people being hyped and expecting sentient computers would burst.

    AI has applications, but the ridiculous promises of these tech companies haven’t been tethered to reality for quite some time.

      I’ve heard it likened to the dot-com boom: yeah, we’ve got a tonne of e-commerce today, but the stars hadn’t aligned in early 2k.
