🤣
Let me fix that headline “Idiots mad that adults came home”
The Dems don’t have to slow anything down, shitty AI economics are already doing that.
They won’t be getting that bailout they were hoping for though.
Uh?

They mean specific ones.
Shares of CoreWeave were lower Wednesday, along with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which is headquartered in Texas.
The first sentence in the article says everything (else) is up overall.
See and this highlights what’s wrong with article titles. There are almost always going to be stock futures falling with this logic. They’re reporting on a nothingburger.
Lmao, I was going to say. The market is big up this morning.
“Things are good, but our owners demand we frame the Democrats negatively in the headline”
It fell then went backup again, probably algorithms reaction to the news.
wheres my free 5090?
at the end of the investment-bow
At the end of the rainbow, along with your free/tax paid healthcare and education.
for state or local restrictions, they’ll just build elsewhere. as far as nationwide–very unlikely that anything happens. controlling congress don’t mean jack unless you also have the white house, or it’s a super majority that can tell an ‘uncooperative’ president ‘fuck you, we’re overriding your vetoes’.

You just really need the local restrictions, after all the data center need to be somewhere. If you get a no from any place you try, it effectively stop you.
As nationwide, given how the US people thinks, I do not think that a “fuck the locals government, we override them” will fly.
At this point they don’t need to peel too many Republicans off to get 2/3rds. The big problem is any win they secure Trump will take credit for.
I would not be surprised if some Republicans in congress suddenly decide they don’t want to go off the cliff with Trump and stop doing everything he says.
Made much the same comment earlier about impeachment. None of these people are stupid. They know damned well Trump’s dying of dementia and can’t be on camera too much longer. They also know that the death of the cult leader ends MAGA. I’m expecting defections here and there.
Even then, with so much money greasing politicians’ palms on both sides, I don’t think the Dems are going to even attempt to pass any meaningful datacenter restrictions.
…
And, honestly, is that even the priority right now? If I’d just been elected to Congress, I’d want to focus on:
-
Rule of law – investigations and impeachments for obvious crimes; also ensuring real election integrity, which means safeguarding USPS from being fucked with, investigating voting machine companies, clarifying and amending some of the loopholes Republicans have been trying to exploit.
-
Abolishing ICE (or at least putting them on a much tighter leash). Take away the president’s private army. Make explicit laws against the worst of their practices – such as violent agents who refuse to identify, deportations to 3rd countries, deportations to dangerous countries, deportations to foreign prisons, indefinite detention in substandard domestic prisons, family separation, etc. Lean on “the power of the purse” for that. Oh, and see if you can find something within Congress’s power that would help purge ICE’s ranks (and other government agency payrolls) of Nazis, white nationalists, and other extremists.
-
Reduce or entirely eliminate the President’s ability to start wars without the approval of Congress. End the war in Iran. Try to end the genocide in Gaza. Try to renew support to Ukraine.
-
Address the affordability crisis. (Ending the Iran war would help with that.) Close whatever loopholes Trump still has left to unilaterally enact tariffs – make all tariffs require congressional approval. Look into housing and food supply policy, looking for ways to improve affordability for those who aren’t rich. If possible, raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and spend the money on social programs to help middle-class and lower Americans. If possible, craft some kind of law to ensure that power-hungry datacenters pay for their own infrastructure, rather than raising energy prices for everyone. And last but not least, of course, some version of Medicare For All. (Maybe even UBI if we want to get really ambitious, though that’s not likely to get much support even among the mainstream Dems.)
-
Environmental actions – renewed and strengthened protections for public lands, some kind of action on climate change.
You may disagree, of course. But that would be my personal priority list if I were elected to Congress right now.
-
What is supermajority in context of US politics? Simple majority in both houses of parliament?
60% required to override a veto from the executive branch.
No, 60% is the filibuster threshold in the Senate.
A “veto proof majority” requires two thirds of the members of House and Senate
A bill or joint resolution that has been vetoed by the President can become law if two-thirds of the Members voting in the House and the Senate each agree to pass it over the President’s objection.
