Tech should be made more accesible. Having the fediverse is nice and all, but if someone was to ask me “i don’t like reddit, what do you recommend?” I can’t even introduce them to how lemmy instances work without some eyebrows being raised let alone the whole concept of the fediverse.

Well that’s basically the premise of populism. Your policy is doing whatever most of your audience would first think of doing (with no subtlety at all so as not to seem too smart or distant to them) then you just ignore the consequences when they come to bite you in the ass and most people won’t think all those bad things are a result of your own stupid policy, because they believe it was perfectly logical and flawless to begin with.

But like, if men pee with the seat up, but both men and women poop with the seat down, then statistically the seat is already down more than half of the time. Now if we enforce a policy like this, that would mean more than half of the times someone walks in and needs the seat to be down is in luck, but the rest has to do double the “work”. And if someone goes in after someone who would have otherwise left the seat up, they too do double the work, so the seat changes position 4 times instead of once. I think it’s much more “just” to simply change the seat whenever you need it and sometimes you will even find it in the position you need it in.
