They left out the video game version, who looks like a butch version of the anime one, except she also got super into bonesmashing and it didn’t go quite as intended. Weirdly, the person her face model will have been based on will have had a face that looks shockingly like canon despite the game model only barely resembling her at all.
Also the Netflix adaptation would have been black. Netflix is noticeably weird about casting black actors to play characters that are canonically gingers more than any other case of casting that doesn’t resemble canon.
Netflix must think black people have more soul.
Is that Ed Sheeran the genocide supporter?
I think he’s more of a money supporter. Genocide or not…which ever side pays more.
His music still sucks
Is that Facebook, with all the raging?
Is he really Brave though?
Well, he quite loudly declared he wasn’t against genocide, not through words but through actions.
Nah. It’s one of those rare instances of sarcastic casting
The last ni@#a on earth, starring Tom Hanks
A Few Good Men starring 900 demagogue politicians
She is awesome in Lanterns. I was not expecting that show to be so well done and she is great.
She’s not real
But the voice actress is
If you say so.
If you say so?..My nigga, people dont put fake acting voices on movies. Every actor is real
You don’t know that.
adaption
Close but more accurate would be if the Netflix adaptation was Zendaya

https://www.fortressofsolitude.co.za/is-hollywood-replacing-redheaded-characters-with-black-actors/
Cool, coolcoolcool, now where’s the graphic with the IRL non-white people cast with whites.
Because you wouldn’t be trying to peddle cherrypicked racist horseshit, noooo not your fragile ass.
You may kiss my lilywhite one.
Ohhhhh. I initially thought it was a joke about how Zendaya is cast in EVERYTHING, and was confused when I expanded the pic. It’d be funny if every character is shown cast as Zendaya.
i cannot get over you guys calling me fragile while I get 10 replies from people pissing themselves about perceived racism
where’s the graphic with the IRL non-white people cast with whites.
this was not to do with skin colour but hair colour, hence the blog title “THE TRUTH ABOUT REDHEADED CHARACTERS BEING RECAST WITH BLACK ACTORS”
Yet Black refers to skin color.
You could easily have referred to redheaded characters being portrayed by non-readheaded white actors, like Mary Jane in the Raimi Spider-Man films and Jimmy Olsen in the latest Superman film. Why only point out when the replacement is Black?
Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock is the only one that ever bothered me. Not a lot, since Charlie Cox is awesome.
But there’s still tons of representation for redheaded women in the MCU, and there’s literally no representation for redheaded men. So any time someone makes these arguments and they don’t bring up Matt Murdock (which is literally 100% of the time), I know they’re full of shit.
I didn’t think you were racist or pushing any agenda 🤷♀️
Thinking about the article more, I wonder if it’s just difficult to find good redhead actors that fit the role. Red heads are pretty rare, I wonder how much that plays a role in this
so you’re a racist loser, got it.
It’s like they didn’t even try to cast a green-skinned people!
This is erasure of those of us who are chronically nauseated cartoon characters!
Hello!
nobody was advocating for hollywood to hire green skinned people or white skinned people, but simply people who have red hair to represent people who have red hair
you and @Tja@programming.dev seem to have rushed to be morally superior and smug so fast you didn’t notice that this was not to do with skin colour but hair colour, hence the blog title “THE TRUTH ABOUT REDHEADED CHARACTERS BEING RECAST WITH BLACK ACTORS”
Here is a paragraph from the post:
The problematic side is, what about the redheads or gingers of the younger generation? Unfortunately for them, their representation is slowly being whittled down to almost nothing, as the characters are not only taken from fair-skinned and ginger to Black but also to tanned skin with blonde hair, brunette hair, and essentially what Hollywood finds beautiful at the time.
So sorry to beat you over the head with your own inclusivity stick but representation matters to me 🙄
Big White Fragility energy 🙄
Tell me you’re racist without telling me you’re racist
Yeah. I think people are downvoting you because they haven’t noticed that the examples are all of characters made less white, completely ignoring that the opposite is several times more common across all Western entertainment.
A decade ago I watched Lawrence Fishburne play Jack Crawford in Hannibal, and it didn’t bother me that Lawrence Fishburne was not white because I had no frame of reference.
Later I found out he was supposed to be based off a real FBI profiler who was white, and was depicted by white actors in the standalone films.
It still didn’t bother me. I think some of the reason was because Lawrence Fishburne’s version of Jack Crawford was my entry point, and he killed it in that role.
But most of the reason was because it didn’t feel forced. He didn’t feel like he NEEDED to be black, he just was.
The same cannot be said of other roles. I don’t care if Ariel is black, because I don’t give a shit about movies for little girls, but the fact that Disney deliberately makes these choices, knowing it will piss people off, is what pisses me off.
The dumbest choice yet was giving Snow White to someone who doesn’t look like porcelain doll. They knew what they were doing, and it feels so forced.
Disney deliberately makes these choices, knowing it will piss people off,
Do you really think that Disney was focused on what lonely white men think while casting these actresses for princess movies?
Because that makes you sound like someone who is so used to being the default demographic for everything that maybe you have trouble processing the idea that this specific thing just isn’t about you.
Do you really think that Disney was focused on what lonely white men think while casting these actresses for princess movies?
Yes Socko, I do think Disney was thinking about it, because they saw the backlash and they kept doing it.
this specific thing just isn’t about you.
What is it about? (Warning, this is bait, I KNOW what it’s “about”)
In advance, let me preface that I think we need more diversity across all media, and I think Moana is awesome.
It’s about making movies for little girls. It’s also about representation.
I do think Disney was thinking about it, because they saw the backlash and they kept doing it.
So doing it again in spite of the negative reaction is what it looks like when they care?
What do you suppose it would look like if they didn’t care what lonely white men think? They’d react directly to their desires and not do it again?
Does that really make sense?
It’s about making movies for little girls. It’s also about representation.
Do you actually think Disney are pushing diversity for the sake of social justice? They don’t give a shit about representation if it doesn’t make them money.
So doing it again in spite of the negative reaction is what it looks like when they care?
Yes, the ensuing culture war puts Disney at the centre of attention.
What do you suppose it would look like if they didn’t care what lonely white men think?
I think they’d cast a pasty white girl as Snow White.
Does that really make sense?
Not at all.
So you’re describing a conspiracy theory where you think Disney is the architect of this culture war bullshit because it’s free advertising for their live action remakes.
That doesn’t hold up to even a little bit of scrutiny.
-
Diverse casting in a remake was a thing for decades before the current culture war situation. Disney cast Brandy as Cinderella in 1997 to absolutely no backlash.
-
The racist backlash doesn’t actually provide any financial benefit for Disney. In fact there’s a significant cost to it, because Chinese audiences won’t see a movie with a Black lead.
So if you’re being sincere here you should reconsider your stance. Unless there’s some other reason you might want to take that side.
because it’s free advertising
Yes.
That doesn’t hold up to even a little bit of scrutiny.
1997 Cinderella was a TV movie, it’s in a different league and the
wholecast is mostly* black. It’s a black film for black people. In fact there’s a significant cost to it
It’s free advertising. Cost benefit analysis. Little Mermaid was profitable, and Snow White wasn’t, though there may be other reasons people were annoyed about this one (Gal Gadot, and dwarfs).
if you’re being sincere here you should reconsider your stance
Oh fuck off. I know what I’m saying. Go feed my messages into another LLM and have it spit out a list of facts you can regurgitate.
-
dumbest choice yet was giving Snow White to someone who doesn’t look like porcelain doll
Casting Genocide Barbie as the queen was dumber
So what? Why would that matter?
