Like any food, it depends on if it was frozen/boxed or actually cooked. If that mac is homemade then kudos to the cook

I hate when I see a video going “here is my go-to lazy meal for when I’m totally beat” and the first thing they do is start chopping an onion.

A lazy meal is a bag of beige crap from the freezer, dumped into an oven tray and left for 20 minutes on gas mark 8. If it’s more effort than that, you can stick it.

I buy frozen chopped onions and pepper and onion mix because I fucking hate chopping. Admittedly, the peppers aren’t as good vs fresh, but I will deal with subpar peppers to not have to chop anything. I will say, one annoying thing is fewer and fewer grocery stores stock frozen chopped onions, likely due to lower margins because they are usually dirt cheap, like $1/ bag.

it’s like when someone uploads a video of “cheap diy project” and half the materials is a couple hundred dollars of stuff they already own from previous projects. or “cheap optiplex gaming pc” and the gpu is a rtx 3090 nvidia gave them for free for being a tech youtuber.

Oven? Why be such an overachiever? If it requires more than 1 button press on the microwave I’m just gonna eat it cold.

It’s a hot meal, and the mac looks homemade, and not from a box. Girl needs to talk to her boyfriend, and stop bitching on the internet. The conversation should start like this, “Thank you for dinner, I appreciate the effort. Next time you cook, can you make some of these things in the future, they are some of my favorite meals?”

My wife works a 7 days on 7 days off hospital shift. On her workdays, I stay up late and have a hot dinner ready for her. After 3 years, I have had 0 complaints. We talk to each other about things we like and our preferences, so I try to cook things I know she will like anyway. I used to make things like felafel from scratch, tons of homemade veggie soups from scratch, like split pea, butternut squash bisque, garden veggie, until I learned she didn’t like those things and just focused my efforts on things she likes.

In a healthy relationship, adults talk to each other about their wants and needs, instead of bitching on the internet.

I never complain about someone giving me prepared food. I spend so much of my life obtaining, storing, preparing, and cleaning up after making food that I see any meal given to me as a wonderful gift of time.

IDK, not saying this isn’t a good meal, but I seems to me this kind of post just implies that most men can’t cook for shit. Most of my male friends are good cook and can make much better meals than that. Guessing it’s an amrrican thing.

Isn’t professional cooking even male dominated? AFAICT most kitchen chefs are male. That always made this weird stereotype of “women belong in the kitchen” and “men can’t cook” super weird to me.

Can relate. There’s a saying “if you turn your hobby into a job, you no longer have a hobby.”

I think that’s possibly the single most sexist stereotype: “Cooking is for women, unless you’re really really good at it”

I broke the cycle. My mom is an awful cook, and I can turn any red meat into goodness.

Most red meat can be turned good by simply existing. So long as you don’t burn it, it’s hard to fuck it up too bad otherwise.

Montreal steak seasoning, soy sauce, and 40 minutes at 350 will make any red meat amazing though.
